Smart Mouth is Mouthwash that Lasts all Day!

About the Product
Mouthwash products have evolved over time into three generations. The first generation of products kills some of the germs in your mouth, providing only short term relief. The second generation goes one step further and eliminates bad breath odors when you rinse a well as kill some of the germs. Still, these products only provide fresh breath for no longer than one hour. It is with this in mind that I present to you the ONLY product on the market that is clinically proven to provide fresh breath for at least 24 hours with twice daily use. SmartMouth (http://www.smartmouth.com/) Mouthwash is the only product in the third generation of mouthwashes which not only eliminates odors, but also prevents those odors from returning for at least a 12 hour period. This means that SmartMouth lasts at least 12 times longer than any other leading mouthwash available to consumers. Recently, the Better Business Bureau’s National Advertising Division, whose sole purpose is to foster truth in advertising, reviewed all of SmartMouth’s claims and they determined that the following have, in fact, been substantiated:
  1. SmartMouth does provide 12 hours of fresh breath after each rinse
  2. No other leading mouthwash provides fresh breath for longer than one hour
  3. With SmartMouth, you can wake up with fresh breath every day
You may be asking yourself, how does SmartMouth work?
SmartMouth uses a patented, dual-solution technology that requires two key ingredients to be kept separate until just prior to rinsing. This insures that SmartMouth is freshly activated with each use to provide unmatched, long-term fresh breath. SmartMouth's oxidizer in Solution 1, like second generation mouthwash products, eliminates existing bad breath when you rinse. But unlike generation one products, it does not kill germs. SmartMouth's zinc ion technology actually prevents new bad breath from returning for at least 12 hours, that’s 24 hours of freshness with twice daily use! One rinse in the morning prevents bad breath all day, and one rinse at night and you can wake up daily without morning breath.
SmartMouth’s technology was invented by the Chairman of Oral Biology and Pathology at the State University of New York, Stony Brook campus. It was then developed into SmartMouth Mouthwash by Triumph Pharmacuticals. Dr. Marvin Cohen, Chairman of the Board and Co-Founder of Triumph, is the driving force behind Triumph's commitment to education about and resolution of bad breath. He is recognized as a leading authority on the etiology, diagnosis and treatment of halitosis and most notably, he is the author of the bad breath (halitosis) section of the Encyclopedia Britannica, 1998 Medical Edition. Dr. Susanne Cohen is the CEO and Co-Founder of Triumph Pharmaceuticals as well. She has combined her dental and business experience to launch industry leading, cutting edge products for Triumph and now serves as the company's primary spokesperson.

SmartMouth Mouthwash is available in mint and cinnamon flavors. It can be purchased for approximately $10.99 at all of the major retail chains such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Target, CVS, etc. SmartMouth can also be ordered online at http://www.drugstore.com/. SmartMouth is by far the best choice for everyone who wants to have the confidence of fresh breath anytime, anywhere.

My Take on the Product
I have to say that this product delivers what it says. I have tried many types of products to provide me with fresh breath in the past as I do struggle with this time to time (my wife will attest to this), but just as you read above, most products only last for a short period of time and then wear off. SmartMouth doesn't, but instead is long lasting and it definitely leaves you with a clean fresh mouth. I find that even halfway through the day I still have good breath, talk about long-lasting!

I highly recommend this to anyone who currently uses mouthwash (or should be), you will not be disappointed!

My Take on the Book
I have read numerous tales of people taking on the Trail, with the most recent being Bill Bryson's Walk in the Woods. In all of these books you are given the true reality of the Appalachian Trail and the realities that it provides to those that try to conquer it. This book is similar. What I liked about this book though is the honesty of the author and the reasons for his journey. While this book is not like Bryson's, I mention it to make the connection to others writing about their experiences on the trail itself.

I was inspired by the author's tenacity, will and fortitude through the difficult hike. You can tell that he loves what he does and that he wishes to share his love for the outdoors with anyone that will listen. As a father Jeff has done a great job at writing a book that he can share with his and others' children about the importance oof nature and being active, while at the same time, having goals and sticking to them.

As a reader you get the full honesty of this writer on the highs and lows of the trip itself which is wonderfully refreshing. I liked the fact that he was honest about his preparation for the hike and stresses the importance of this preparation, as many people start the Appalachian Trail with too little preparation.

This book is a wonderful one that I would recommend to all. As a father I loved the message and thought that it would be a great story to share with my own kids as they get older!

Unhealthy 'Health' Foods from Consumer Reports' ShopSmart magazine

Some health-food masqueraders can fool even the savviest shoppers and people who pride themselves on their nutritional know-how. A new report in the April 2011 issue of ShopSmart magazine, from the publisher of Consumer Reports, unveils some foods that may seem good for you but aren’t necessarily—and advice on truly healthful foods to choose instead.
Don’t let seemingly healthful foods derail your diet,” said Lisa Lee Freeman, editor-in-chief of ShopSmart. “If you think you’re making a good choice by having a bran muffin or trail mix for breakfast instead of a bowl of cereal, you could be undermining your health—with lots of fat—and sabotaging your waistline—with excess calories.”

Here is a sampling of ShopSmart’s unhealthy health foods and what to try instead:
  • VEGETABLE CHIPS
Their colors may be mesmerizing, but they’re usually high in calories and fat and they don’t count as a serving of vegetables.
TRY THIS instead! Have some air-popped popcorn or dried veggies. Try the Just Tomatoes brand of dried vegetables because they have no added fat, salt, or anything else.

  • GRANOLA CEREAL
It’s usually high in sugar, fat, and calories and relatively low in vitamins and minerals. There are about 400 calories in a cup.
TRY THIS instead!  Have a bowl of an airy, oat-based cereal, like Cheerios, which topped ShopSmart’s  last tests of kid-friendly cereals. For extra crunch and sweetness, add just a sprinkling of granola on top.

  • TURKEY HOT DOGS
A lot of turkey hot dogs are surprisingly high in fat, and some are even higher in fat than regular hot dogs. They also might contain loads of sodium and nitrates.
TRY THIS instead! A turkey breast sandwich is a better choice. But if you’re really craving that hot dog, read packages and go for the turkey version with the least fat.

  • VITAMIN INFUSED WATERS
While vitamin infused waters do have some added nutrients, they’re often loaded with sugar and sometimes caffeine.
TRY THIS instead! Have plain old H2O with a squeeze from a lemon, lime or orange slices.

  • WRAP SANDWICHES
They’re usually huge— enough for two people sometimes—and high in calories and sometimes fat. White flour tortillas often have 300 to 400 calories alone, and offer little nutritional value.
TRY THIS instead! Have a sandwich on whole-grain or whole-wheat bread. When shopping for bread, make sure whole grain is first on the ingredient list.

  • COUSCOUS
Just like white pasta, regular couscous is a processed, refined grain with little nutritional value.
TRY THIS instead! Buy whole-wheat couscous or opt for a whole grain like quinoa or brown rice.

California Poison Control Observes National Poison Prevention Week March 20-27

National Poison Prevention Week, established by the U.S. Congress in 1961 to promote poison prevention, will mark its 50th year the week of March 21.  California Poison Control System (CPCS) (http://www.calpoison.com) is leading the way in consumer awareness of poison prevention by launching a free iPhone application, Choose Your Poison, now available at the Apple app store here: http://bit.ly/gg9vfG. The Choose Your Poison game is also available at http://www.pillsvscandy.org. The game is a fun and interactive way to get educated by testing one’s ability to identify medicines as well as information on poison prevention and awareness.

“We’d all like to believe that we’re smart and savvy when it comes to the way we store medicines and other household items that are toxic,” says Richard Geller, M.D., medical and managing director, California Poison Control System Fresno/Madera Division. “The reality is that it’s difficult to determine what’s safe and what isn’t, especially because pills look so much like popular candy brands.”  Dr. Geller points to the children’s vitamins that look so much like gummy bears that even pros sometimes can’t tell the difference.  He added that the test is really challenging for adults because so many pills look exactly like candy.

“It’s truly enlightening when parents take this test and get a score of 75 percent or less.  So we’re thrilled that this free app can get the test before a large group of people, including those who love to play games on their phones.  It’s fun but difficult at the same time,” said Dr. Geller. California Poison Control -- no stranger to technology – is known for its SMS program launched in 2010.  Weekly poison tips are sent to cell phones by texting TIPS to 69866; also available in Spanish by texting PUNTOS to 69866.

Out of more than two million poisonings that are reported each year to poison control centers across the country, it is estimated that over 90 percent of them occur in the home. The majority of non-fatal poisonings occur in children under the age of six.

“Choose Your Poison is for everyone — health care workers, parents, teens, doctors, pharmacists -- anyone,” adds communications director Iana Simeonov, who spearheads technology and mHealth (mobile health) projects for the CPCS. “Fifty years is a great milestone, but we’ll have cause to celebrate when knowledge and prevention have become so prevalent that we eliminate unnecessary poisonings.”

About California Poison Control

Weekly tips about poison prevention are available by testing TIPS to 69866. Follow CPCS on Facebook at California Poison Control and on Twitter @poisoninfo. CPCS is dedicated to providing residents with the most up-to-date information and 24-hour help in case of poisoning. In case of an accidental poisoning, consumers should immediately call 1-800-222-1222 for advice. Pharmacists, nurses, physician-toxicologists and poison information providers are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to help. In most cases, a poison exposure can be safely managed in your home, avoiding a call to 911 or a visit to a crowded hospital emergency room. Many parents think about contacting the poison control services only in case of an emergency, but experts are available to answer questions any time.

It May Be March, But A Nutritious Pregnancy Diet Shouldn’t Force You Into Madness

By Sharon Voyer Lavigne, MS, CPEIS Teratogen Information Specialist

We have all heard this before from our mothers and grandmothers before them, but here it is again, “what we put into our bodies really affects our health and well being.”  What better time to delve into that saying than during the month of March - National Nutrition Month. For women, proper nutrition becomes especially important during our childbearing years.  When planning a pregnancy, newly pregnant or breastfeeding, good nutrition is key to healthy outcomes.

So how does a woman go about getting “nutritionally” healthy?  First, we need to look at our diet.  Yes the dreaded four-lettered word D-I-E-T.  Let’s first focus on the version of this word that is positive, instead of it’s negative connotation that makes us think of deprivation and cravings.  What kind of food do you consume?  Fruits, vegetables, proteins, grains and fats should all be on the list.  During pregnancy and breastfeeding, vegetarians and vegans need to be more creative at getting in enough protein and healthy fats, but it is doable.  A consultation with a dietician or nutritionist may help you round out your intake properly.  Women with medical conditions like Crohns disease or ulcerative colitis (see fact sheet- http://www.otispregnancy.org/files/IBD.pdf) may also benefit from consulting an expert to cater to their needs. These conditions may limit what you can eat or effect how you absorb nutrients.  In some cases, supplements are helpful.  For example, Vitamin K (the clotting vitamin) may be deficient in someone with inflammatory bowel disease.

Another group that needs to be aware of their diet is those individuals with diabetes.  Diabetics need to eat the right balance of carbohydrates in order to keep their blood sugar level in a healthy range (See fact sheet: http://www.otispregnancy.org/files/diabetes.pdf).  This is especially true prior to conceiving, since elevated blood sugar levels can cause birth defects and pregnancy complications.  A diabetic’s glycosulated hemoglobin levels (HbA1c) should be as close to normal (below 6 ug/ml) as possible prior to and during pregnancy.  Some women who had been previously able to control their diabetes with diet and exercise alone may need insulin during pregnancy.  In many cases, using insulin makes it easier for a woman to be in control of her blood sugar levels.

Now lets look at supplements. Vitamins and minerals can be supplemented to round out our nutritional intake. In the perfect world, prenatal vitamins would be started prior to conception. However, since 50% of pregnancies are unplanned, vitamin and mineral intake often starts after conception. Vitamin and minerals typically have a predetermined Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for pregnancy and for breastfeeding. Women should stick to these guidelines unless their health care provider has determined that they are deficient in something specific. Then an additional amount of what vitamin or mineral is lacking can be supplemented. More is not always better, so heeding the guidelines of the RDA is safest.

One vitamin that most women have heard about is folic acid or folate. This B vitamin has been shown to reduce risks for certain birth defects, so all women planning to conceive or who are already pregnancy should be taking at least 600mcg of folic acid. Women who have taken medications recently or need to continue to take medication that decrease folic acid will need more- 4-5 mg per day. This is not a typical dose in a prenatal vitamin, so a separate supplement of folic acid will be necessary.

Any supplement that also contains herbal products should be avoided.  Natural herbs are not always safe to use during pregnancy. While the majority may not cause birth defects, very little data exists on their safety in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Some herbs interfere with hormones, which may affect fertility. Some herbs may cause uterine contractions and cause pregnancy loss. A supplement without additional herbal ingredients is best.

Okay, now what about Omega 3 fatty acids, fish and methyl mercury? Yes, fish is found in a healthy diet. Fish does contain omega 3’s which are important for your health and the growth and development of your baby. Some prenatal vitamins contain Omega 3 fatty acids now.  Fish can also contain methyl mercury, a toxic form of mercury that may affect your baby’s developing brain. Avoiding types of fish that may contain high level of methyl mercury is best. These include shark, swordfish, King mackerel and tilefish (See fact sheet: http://www.otispregnancy.org/files/methylmercury.pdf). The FDA suggests consuming no more than 12 ounces of fish per week of most types of cooked fish. If you prefer to eat fresh water fish from local waters, the Environmental Protection Agency or your state or local health department should be able to advise you on what fish are currently safe to eat.

Finally, we cannot ignore the negative connotation of the word D-I-E-T.  Trying to get down to a healthier weight is a good idea prior to pregnancy. However, once you conceive, you should strive for the healthy balance we have discussed so far. Weight loss during pregnancy may put you at greater risk for having a child with birth defects or pregnancy complications. Leave those thoughts and plans of weight loss until after you have had your baby.

Good ‘ol grandma was right…”You are what you eat!” So, eat right, monitor your health, and you’ll be rewarded when a healthy, bouncing baby’s toothless smile is gleaming up at you!

Book Review - Fifteen Minutes Outside

About the Book
Drawing inspiration from her own journey to get her family outside every day, Fifteen Minutes Outside: 365 Ways to Get Out of the House and Connect with Your Kids is a month-by-month collection of 365 easy and enjoyable ways to connect as a family and explore life outdoors.

Rebecca said her family not only became closer after the year end, but experienced great health benefits through fun physical exercise and discovered a deeper appreciation for nature.

Transform your family with some of these quick and fun ideas:

  • Make a Birdfeeder- Make a bagel bird feeder yourself and hang it on a tree outside within view of where you eat breakfast. No bagel? Use a pinecone instead.
  • Make Mud Prints - Give your kids license for what you feel comfortable with: mud shoe prints, mud bike tire prints, mud handprints, no rules? Let your kids loose and have towels ready by the door for muddy shoes and clothes as soon as you are home.
  • Ships Ahoy! Sail Juice Box Boats in Puddles - After your kids finish their juice boxes, find a puddle and float them like boats.
  • Look for an Aerial Battle - At this time of year, the kids and I tend to notice small birds engaged in battle with a larger bird in the distance overhead. Keep watch on the sky; do you see a turf battle? A hawk hunting for newly hatched baby birds? What can you find?
  • Make Your Own Fossil - Take a small box, tape both sides and remove one side of the box. Fill the box with mud and press objects, such as shells, rocks, leaves, or sticks into the mud and bring the boxes inside to dry.

Ten Tips to Prevent the "Silent Killer" Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Carbon monoxide poisoning is a very real household danger. If you want more tips about safety and poison prevention at home, text TIPS to 69866.

It was anything but a happy new year in Los Angeles in January where one woman mourned the loss of her mother and grandmother -- both who died from carbon monoxide given off by a gas oven door they'd left open to stay warm. A week later, 11 students in Vermont were hospitalized for carbon monoxide poisoning that occurred as a result of a faulty furnace. Both incidents were a painful reminder that when it comes to this "silent killer" the public is far from educated on how to prevent deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless odorless gas undetectable to the human senses, so people may not know that they are being exposed.  Products that are typically involved in CO poisonings include malfunctioning fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, ranges, water heaters and room heaters; engine-powered equipment such as portable generators; fireplaces; and charcoal that is burned in homes and other enclosed areas.

Symptoms range from headache, fatigue, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness to confusion, vomiting, loss of muscular coordination and loss of consciousness.

Carbon monoxide poisoning can be of slow or swift onset depending on circumstances. But it is deadly. California Poison Control, in an effort to raise public awareness, has issued the following 10 Tips to Prevent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. With proper prevention, this "silent killer" can be stopped in its tracks.

1. Have all heating equipment installed properly, and have your home's heating system inspected by a professional prior to turning the heat on when cold weather season begins.

2. Carbon monoxide detectors should be installed in all homes and in apartments.  When a CO detector goes off, assume that a real CO danger is present, and get all people and pets out of the structure immediately.  Do not re-enter until a heating professional, gas company or fire department has declared the area safe from CO.

3. During home renovations, ensure that appliance vents and chimneys are not blocked by tarps or debris. Make sure appliances are in proper working order when renovations are complete.

4. Do not cover the bottom of natural gas or propane ovens with aluminum foil. Doing so blocks the combustion air flow through the appliance and can produce CO.

5. Never use portable fuel-burning camping equipment inside a home, garage, vehicle or tent unless it is specifically designed for use in an enclosed space and provides instructions for safe use in such an area.

6. In climates with snow, make sure that chimneys and vents do not become blocked with snowfall.

7. Never operate a portable generator or any other gasoline engine-powered tool either in or near an enclosed space such as a garage, house, or other building, or outside of an open window.

8. Do not use charcoal or hibachi grills to cook with or for heat indoors under any circumstances.

9. Do not attempt to heat your home by turning on the oven or clothes dryer and leaving the door open.

10. Never let a car engine run inside a closed space such as a garage.  Drive out promptly after starting the car, and turn the car engine off as soon as you drive into an enclosed space. Never have a garage door closed with a running vehicle inside, even for a few seconds.

Healthy Is in Vogue

These days, a lot is being said about the importance of children living a healthy lifestyle.  Parents want their children to grow up healthy and strong. Here are three no-nonsense tips mothers everywhere can use to help direct their children toward more healthy choices, now and in the future.

Lead by Example
Whenever you can show your children the importance you place on taking care of yourself and your body, seize the opportunity to do so. The more they see you striving to live a more balanced and healthy life, the more likely they will be to follow suit.

Know What Your Child Is Eating
Have you ever read the ingredients of some of the foods your children are eating? Not only are some of the ingredients difficult to pronounce, but it is also not always obvious what they are or why they are in the food. Now you can obtain a greater understanding with The Dictionary of Food Ingredients.  This book is full of information about ingredients such as algin, a substance used in ice cream, puddings, icings and “fabricated fruit.” That’s right, fake fruit. Use a resource such as this book to help you make healthy choices.

Be Honest
Children seek out honesty, even if it changes their perspective on the world they live in.  If your children look at you with those inquisitive eyes and ask why they can no longer have a certain snack, be honest. Tell them it’s because they contain unhealthy ingredients. Share with them the science behind food processing in words they can understand. And reassure them that you will always be there to make sure the foods they eat will be good for them.

Four New Dance Modes

Dedicated to providing a richer, deeper gaming experience, the development team behind Just Dance 2 has included four new dance modes. These include:

Duet Mode

Created to foster more interaction between players, Duet Mode allows players to dance together, and in the process forces them to pay more attention to the players around them instead of simply following on-screen prompts.

Dance Battle Mode

Dance Battle Mode is a team mode that features up to 8-player support. Although individual scores are the basis of the overall team scores, the extreme multiplayer basis of the mode changes what can be the individual nature of dance into something very different.

Party Mode

Party Mode is a straight up dance fest in which players can get together and dance for as long as they want, just for the fun of it.

Just Sweat Mode

An exercise mode disguised as fun, the meter built into the Just Sweat Mode allows players to measure the energy they expend while dancing as well as set objectives to be met during their dance sessions.

Key Game Features
  • Chart-Topping Singles - Over 45 new tracks from classic hits and legendary songs to today's chart-toppers

  • Real Moves - Like its predecessor, Just Dance 2 features iconic dance moves choreographed by real experts to every style of music, including rock, pop, hip hop, R&B, and world beat

  • All New Game Modes - All new modes deliver hours of multiplayer fun

  • Just Sweat It Off - Just Dance 2 is a workout in disguise, keeping you energized and motivated as you dance the calories away. You can also keep an eye on your fitness with the Just Dance Sweat Meter and a calorie burn counter

  • Multiplayer Support - In certain modes Just Dance 2 supports up to 8 players

  • Improved Wii Remote Recognition - Just Dance 2 contains more accurate movement recognition of the Wii Remote, allowing better dancers to reap the rewards of their superior skill

My Take on the Game
Ok, I usually have two left feet when it comes to dancing. My girls on the other hand will dance at any song that comes on. When I d dance, it usually is spinning around with my girls or slow dancing with my wife, so I had no idea what to expect in this game. I had heard many positive things, but when I actually got into the game I was impress by the game.
As I started, it took me a little while to get used to the controls and the moves. The moves were quite fast and furious and combines with a great mix of songs, you can, as my girls would say, get your groove on.
As I got into the game I started to notice that this game really got your heart moving. Especially in the Just Sweat It Off mode, you simply burn calories like there is no tomorrow. My wife even got into the fun and she stated that she could even get into the songs and the game. I think the reason for this and for my reaction was the fact that even though this was a game it got you moving and gave you a fun workout that you could have as a family!
I'm getting the hang of the moves and the game and I look forward to continuing to have fun with these dance, while learning a lotof different moves and dances. Though we only have three controllers right now, I think eventually we will need a fourth so the whole family can get  the fun all at once!

Kids Teaching Yoga

Yoga, To Help Calm and Focus Your Child

By age eight, it was apparent that Haley was bestowed with a high level of intelligence, creativity and energy. So much energy, in fact, that at times it was hard for her to manage the long hours of sitting that are often required in elementary schools these days. Her parents were looking for ways to help her focus and be more successful in school, so they referred her to the yoga class taught by the school counselor, Lynea Gillen.
Counselor Gillen had been working at this elementary school for many years before she met Haley. Gillen, a 35-year practitioner of yoga and yoga teacher, had been creating new ways of using yoga breathing techniques and poses to help children in the school's behavior classroom calm themselves and focus. The principal of the school and other teachers saw the positive effects this program was having and soon the school district moved two other behavior classrooms to Gillen's school.

One of the benefits of yoga Gillen noticed right away was that the activities calmed the students' nervous systems. They became more connected to their feelings and more receptive to learning. As a result, Gillen started to marry the calming yoga activities with some new communication and social skills games she had been developing.
Haley

Taking it one step further, she started having the students lead the "Yoga Calm" activities. Four years later, Haley, her star assistant, was actually teaching the activities to the other children in the behavior classroom as well as to her siblings at home. Today, Haley is thriving in school, while the Yoga Calm program is being used by thousands of schoolteachers, counselors and parents across the country.
In 2007, Gillen published success stories like Haley's and 60 school and home activities in her award-winning book, Yoga Calm for Children. But to better capture the beauty and magic of what happens when children discover and share their unique talents she created a new children's yoga DVD, Kids Teach Yoga: Flying Eagle (www.yogacalm.org, Three Pebble Press, January, 2011). It was developed with her husband, Jim, a long-term yoga instructor in Portland and co-author of their original book.

Haley, now a graceful and poised 12-year-old, leads a diverse group of boys and girls (ages 4-11) on a yoga adventure. The children learn how to calm themselves and use simple yoga poses and balance activities to develop the strengths of the eagle (be strong, focused and caring). With the class broken up into three segments, children can do just a few poses or the entire 21-minute class. Parents, teachers, and the kids themselves report positive effects immediately.

To build social skills and a sense of community, each child contributes to the class by leading activities and giving each other compliments. There are other team-building group activities, too, like Tree Circle where children help each other to learn more advanced balance poses.

Rylie
Rylie
Perhaps the most poignant scene is at the end of class when student Rylie invokes her Native American heritage's love and respect for the eagle through a beautiful original song performed during Haley's relaxation storytelling sequence.
Beautifully filmed in HD, the outdoor setting of this DVD, and the bonus segment's footage of eagles in the wild with narration by Audubon Naturalist, Steve Engel, is purposely designed to inspire children's curiosity and knowledge of the natural world. In another bonus segment, Dr. Jeff Sosne, an expert on ADHD, teaches one important eagle skill -- focus -- by engaging the children in a game designed for classrooms and home to develop eye contact and improve concentration.

Eagle
Children love animals. The symbolism of the eagle in this class -- combined with children leading the yoga activities, storytelling and the music -- are powerful motivators for developing fitness, imagination, environmental awareness and lifelong social skills.

Gillen hopes as more children try yoga, they will learn how to direct their youthful energy and passion to helping others and making the world a better place. Kids Teach Yoga: Flying Eagle is a good place to start.

My Take on the DVD
When I first watched this DVD with my girls they were a bit skeptical. In saying this though I found that once it got going they were interested in the positions and showing off what they could do. I have tried Yoga in the past and this DVD is a great starting point for kids, and even adults, to allow them to start slow with uncomplicated positions. What I liked most was that this DVD got my kids up and moving. It is long enough to feel quite stretched out and short enough to keep a child's attention.
